Not to be confused with ovarian cysts, PCOS is a condition that affects the health of the ovaries. I can explain to you know the typical causes and what is going on the women's bodies with PCOS and how we can address the imbalances.
Below you will find a list of causes, one or more may be relevant to you. I can help explain to you what's going on in you as an individual via tests and detailed assessment. We can then tailor a bespoke way forward, making sure you completely understand what your body is asking for.
Excess of testosterone
Insulin resistance
Chronic stress
Oestrogen Dominance (luteal phase progesterone deficiency)
An excess of unfriendly oestrogens in particular
Anaemia
There is rarely one cause of a disease, the body is more complex than that. We need to look at the many factors that come together that affect PCOS expression. These include environment (nutrition, stress, toxins), mindset and emotional health, and genetics. When I look at your risk of anemia, I wont just be looking at a standard blood result with a reference range as wide as europe, I will be checking that you have enough to function optimally and that there is no sign that your body is in need for iron; for example. I am more interested in your body's needs than standard reference ranges.
When it comes to insulin resistance, I am not talking about diabetes, there are many many insulin resistant people waking about. I teach a true understanding of how blood suagr works and how to balance insulin levels and control blood sugar. Very few people, including health professionals understand it, which is why the majority of the population has a degree of insulin resistance.
There is little point in working on the physical side of health and ignoring the emotional, they are just as powerful in affecting our wellbeing as each other. I will give you tools to optimise a healthy mind and make sure you are using your brain to get what you want, not what you don't want. It' surprising that we can actually be doing the opposite of what we thought we were and hindering progress as a result.
When it comes to hormone balance it can be hard to understand how we may influence this. Firstly, our hormones are made, activated deactivated and removed from the body using nutrients. Genes that code for proteins that require nutrients to function are also involved in telling the body how to make hormones. Our genetics can also affect our nutrient requirements. There are various systems involved in hormone balance and our aim is to support them; the main one is the digestive system. A healthy gut helps the body have healthy hormones.
